ATTENTION PARENTS OF 6TH GRADERS

The State of Michigan has updated their requirements for children entering the 6th grade in the 2010-2011 school year.  Before starting 6th grade all students will be required to have an updated immunization record that includes the meningococcal vaccine (to help prevent meningitis) and the Tdap (which helps prevent tetanus, diptheria and pertusis) and a second varicella vaccine (chicken pox).  The American Academy of Pediatrics, Center for Disease Control and the physicians at Forest Hills Pediatrics have routinely recommended that all children receive these vaccines at their 11 year old Well Child visit.

If you are not sure if your 6th grader has received these 3 additional required vaccines please enter our patient login and follow the instructions to view and print your child's immunization record.  It will list all those vaccines that your child has received and also alert you to any that they still need.  Please call the office at 616-949-4465 if you have any questions and/or to schedule an appointment with our nurse for immunizations.  Also, please remember that we recommend an annual Well Child exam for all children and teens.  Well child exams done after April 15, 2010 will count for the 2010-2011 school year.  Call now to make those appointments!
