Calls after office hours are for urgent or emergencies only—any need or problem that cannot wait until normal office hours. To help cover the cost to provide this service, there will be a $20 fee for calls made after hours. the fee will be waived for infants under 3 months of age and for those incurring the fee of a medical visit as a result of the nurse's decision
After hours calls are answered 24 hours a day, every day of the year. A nurse will return your call as quickly as possible. If you do not receive a call back within the hour, please call again.
One of our pediatricians is always on call. If the nurse feels your child needs to go to the emergency room, he/she will talk to our pediatrician on call.
Note: We do not call in prescriptions for antibiotics without seeing your child first.
Emergencies
For a life-threatening illness or injury call 911 or take your child to the nearest emergency room. In all other instances, call our office so we can assist you. If you are not sure whether a visit to the emergency room is appropriate, please call the office and a nurse will help you determine the appropriate place for treatment.
If you have any doubt about the severity of the situation or if you are unable to reach our office, go directly to the emergency room at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital at Corewell Health or if you are out of town, go to the emergency room nearest you.
