Newborns
Congratulations!
We are excited for you and the impending arrival of your little one! We have gathered some information on this page to help you prepare before baby arrives. To help make your decision on a Pediatrician, check out the profiles of physicians accepting newborns on our landing page.
We are here for you and your family
Starting a family or welcoming another child into your family is a wonderful experience and truly a gift. Along with the beauty and joy of pregnancy, delivery and then coming home, there are bound to be times when you have questions about how to care for your baby and family.
We are excited and honored that you are considering us for your child’s care. The continuity of care and the amazement of watching a baby grow and develop into a wonderful child is one of the primary reasons that we all feel privileged to work in pediatrics.
Notify Us
The best time to notify our office is 30-60 days before your due date. Our Patient Ambassador will assist in pre-registration of your child and provide additional helpful information.
Get Acquainted with Us
To learn more about our practice and familiarize yourself with our office, view our videos below before your baby’s first appointment. We recommend you view the Parent Information Video a month or two before your due date so everyone is prepared for your child's first visit. If you have further questions, please email us at reception@foresthillspediatrics.com.

What to Bring to Your First Appointment
- Any paperwork from the hospital, including hearing screen results and immunization records.
- Any available insurance information (often only the parent’s insurance is available at the first visit) but if it is the policy on which the child will eventually be enrolled, it is still helpful.
- Plenty of diapers and an extra set of clothes.
Hospital Care
When you deliver at any of the hospitals in Grand Rapids, one of their staff Pediatricians will provide care. Their doctor will determine when your first appointment should be scheduled, usually within a day or two of leaving the hospital. Upon discharge (actually prior to leaving the hospital to take advantage of the extra set of hands available to care for your infant), call our office to schedule your baby's first appointment. Our Patient Navigator may also reach out to you while you are in the hospital to assist with scheduling.
